The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the final list of candidates and parties who will run in the Osun gubernatorial election in 2022.
The list, which was released on Tuesday, included the names of the candidates, deputies, and other information about them.
Festus Okoye Esq, National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, stated in the release that the list is in accordance with the Electoral Act 2022.
He advised any party that notices the absence of its candidate’s name from the list to “notify the commission in writing, signed by its National Chairman and Secretary, and supported by an affidavit not later than 90 days before the election, in accordance with Section 32(2) of the Electoral Act 2022.”
“The commission would like to remind political parties that under Section 32(2) of the Electoral Act 2022, any party that notices the name of its candidate is missing from the list “shall notify the commission in writing, signed by its National Chairman and Secretary, and supported by an affidavit not later than 90 days before the election.”
“Furthermore, parties are reminded of Section 32(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, which states that failing to inform the Commission “shall not constitute grounds for invalidating the election.”
He did, however, reveal that the list is available at INEC State and Local Government offices in Osun State.
