On Thursday in Abuja, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) re-arrested Prof. Adedibu Ojerinde, the former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Azuka Ogugua, the Commission’s spokeswoman, said in a statement on Thursday that Prof. Ojerinde’s re-arrest was in response to a warrant issued by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
He is anticipated to appear before a group of investigators to discuss fresh information related to his current prosecution for diverting funds while serving as a public official.
Two accounts formed in the names of Trillium Learning Centre Ltd and Sapati International Schools Ltd were found to have had money transferred into them using bogus student names by ICPC agents.
The former JAMB Registrar had been called by the Commission to testify on fresh evidence on December 12, 2022, but he requested a 14-day extension through his attorney in order to accept the invitation. However, Ojerinde declined to accept the invitation after the 14-day period had passed on December 27, 2022, as promised by his attorney.
The Commission’s ongoing inquiry has turned up additional information that reveals Ojerinde is the only signer on a number of bank accounts that are held in the names of Sapati International School Ltd. and Trillium Learning Centre Ltd. Ojerinde is accused of using fictitious names—Joshua Olakulehin Olaniran and Akanbi Lamidi—and forging paperwork to manage those accounts. He is also accused of using the fictitious name Adeniyi Banji to run another account under the name Standout Institutes Ltd.
Ojerinde, who has been detained at the ICPC’s headquarters, has handed over the checkbooks for the firms’ financial records.
