To stop terrorists from utilizing the route leading to Natasha Akpoti’s hometown, I dug it up: Bello Yahaya

On the day of the important presidential and legislative elections, Governor Yahaya Bello acknowledged to demolishing key highways leading to the Kogi Central senatorial area, which is where Natasha Akpoti, the opposition senatorial candidate, lives.

In defense of the action, Mr. Bello cited a bomb blast that happened on December 29 while President Muhammadu Buhari was in Kogi State as evidence that it was a preventative step to dissuade terrorists from wreaking havoc on the local population.

Kingsley Fanwood, the state’s commissioner for information and communications, stated in a statement on February 24 that “one of the measures arrived at was to restrict the number of routes to the flashpoints to enable security agents properly mount effective surveillance on the other access roads for the safety of the people.”

The excavation of roads heading to areas regarded to be her strongholds was portrayed by Ms. Akpoti, who has great influence in some areas of the state, as being driven by politics.

According to Ms. Akpoti, the excavation on election night was an intentional attempt to keep election officials from reaching the five local government districts in her senatorial district.
