The ECOWAS Youth Council and the West African Youth Support Development Forum have filed a lawsuit against Nigerian artist Peter Okoye, commonly known as Mr. P, for failing to appear at an event after receiving N2.8 million as payment.

According to the company, Mr. P got 70% of the $4 million down payment to perform at the West Africa Champions League’s first event in Asaba, Delta State, but he did not show up.

“On June 16th, 2019, after Mr. P took the money and recorded a video claiming he would be coming live, he refused to show up at the event, which subsequently wrecked the dream of the organization to offer a better opportunity to kids,” the group managing director stated in an interview with IGBERE TV.

Mr P ruined the show by failing to attend the occasion. Many people wished to watch him perform in person.

“Because he didn’t show up, we lost almost 33 million Naira.” Mr. P’s actions crushed the efforts of former under 20 and 17 national team coaches Sam John Obuh and other celebrities who honored the event to encourage our kids growth via sports.”

“We sued him for almost 500,000,000, 000, 000 nairas.” The groups wrote to him multiple times to request a refund, but he refused.”

That is why we are in court today, February 23rd, 2022, but the case has been delayed until April 13th, 2022.”
